I am a UKCP Registered Psychotherapist, Registered Psychologist and Group Analyst with over 30 years of experience working with adults and children.
People come to therapy for many different reasons. You may be experiencing anxiety, depression, difficulties in your relationships, the impact of trauma or loss, work-related pressures, or a significant change in your life. You may also simply feel that something is not quite right and want the opportunity to understand yourself and your relationships more deeply.
I offer a warm, thoughtful and confidential space where we can begin to make sense of what you are experiencing together.
My approach is grounded in psychoanalytic psychotherapy and group analysis.
As a Group Analyst, I am particularly interested in how our emotional lives are shaped by our relationships with others. Our experiences within families, friendships, intimate relationships, workplaces and wider groups can influence how we understand ourselves, how we relate to other people and the patterns we may find ourselves repeating.
This perspective informs my work with both individuals and groups. Therapy provides an opportunity to explore what may sit beneath current difficulties, including the ways in which earlier experiences and relationships may continue to affect the present.
I see therapy as more than simply addressing symptoms. It can help us become more curious about ourselves, recognise patterns that may previously have been difficult to see, and develop new ways of understanding and relating to ourselves and others.
The therapeutic relationship is an important part of this process. I aim to provide a reflective and collaborative space in which you can speak openly and explore difficult thoughts, feelings and experiences at a pace that feels right for you.
I work with people experiencing a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties, including:
You do not need to arrive with a clear explanation of what is wrong. Part of the work of therapy can be understanding together what you are experiencing and why certain difficulties or patterns may have developed.
Alongside my private practice, I have worked within NHS psychotherapy services providing individual and group psychotherapy. Earlier in my career, I worked extensively with adults, children and families affected by torture, trauma, domestic violence and forced displacement.
For more than two decades, I have also led psychologically informed services for vulnerable young people. These experiences continue to inform my understanding of trauma, relationships, resilience and emotional wellbeing.
I completed six years of specialist training in Group and Individual Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy at the Institute of Group Analysis. I also hold a Doctorate in Occupational Psychology and a BSc (Hons) in Psychology.
My professional memberships include the UK Council for Psychotherapy, the Institute of Group Analysis and the Group Analytic Society International.
Whether you are considering therapy for the first time or returning after previous therapy, I offer a compassionate and reflective space in which we can think together about what has brought you here and the changes you would like to make.
